Lauren H, Fort Collins CO

Lauren's blog: here.

About Lauren
I live in Northern Colorado with my wonderful husband Andy and our two lovely dogs, Hailey & Crackers. I work in the admin/clerical field full time outside the home, but we all know it’s really just the “means” for my craft supplies!

How long have you been making cards?
a little over one year

How long making them for our heroes?
a little over 4 months

What's your favorite kind of card to make?
Hmmmm…. the fast, easy one that comes together looking amazing??? Seriously, I like punches, patterned paper, inked edges & rub ons. Fast, easy - fun. :o)

Do you have a special technique you love to use?
I seem to like inking the edges of things… does that count? I also love using punches.

Are there colors, styles, or products that draw you?
I LOVE the color blue and anything by Hambly. But when it comes to card making, I really try to fit my audience. I am NOT a pink kinda girl. But if it involves my niece or valentine’s day, you will find me embracing pink! I also use it as a place to try techniques out and most often am pleasantly surprised with the results.

What motivates you to make cards for heroes?
I have a cousin and a friend who both spent time in Iraq a few years ago. I know the love and support they both need to give and receive. Card for Heroes gives the love and support to the troops and then allows them to give that love and support back to their families. Wonderful! And don’t forget to make “thank you” cards for our heroes too!!! They need love, support and encouragement for a swift recovery and hopefully a quick trip home!
