Denise W, Las Vegas NV

About Denise:
I was an active duty Army W.A.C., where I met and married a wonderful career military man. After meeting, we remained in the military and retired after 22 years. I worked as a military civilian (DAC), most of my adult life and worked along side some of the best military personnel our country had to offer. I have recently retired, where I now have the time to create cards in my spare time.

How long have you been making cards?
I have been making cards since the year 2000, when we moved to Las Vegas, and I met a wonderful Stampin-Up! demonstrator. I have been a Stampin Up! demonstrator (hobbyist) since 2006. I just love the discounts from Stampin Up! as a demonstrator, which helps me with my stamping addiction.

How long making them for our heroes?
I have been making them for 4-6 months.

How did you hear about CFH?
I heard about Cards for Heroes while trying to get new ideas for cards from the wonderful “Split Coast Stampers Blog.”

What’s your favorite kind of card to make?
My favorite cards are making birthday and thank you cards. There always seems to be someone needing a Happy Birthday reminder or a wonderful Thank You for something they have done.

Are there colors, style, or product that draw you?
I love using the Cuttlebug Embossing folders. I use my amazing new Sizzix Big Shot to emboss with. I find irresistible the Little Mice stamps from House-Mouse. All these wonderful products make some very cute and quick cards.

What motivates you to make cards for heroes?
Two things – One, I know from personal experience how hard the families have it when their loved ones are away from the families. It is always a nice feeling when you get something in writing that you can hold on to while your loved one is away. And second, it is nice to know someone can really use all the cards I make.
