Spring Break Bloghop!

Welcome to the final stop on the hop! If you're looking for the beginning of the hop, click here:

If you've already been hopping around, we hope you've got a moment to put up your feet and relax with us here! Go take a quick break, pour a fresh glass of your beverage of choice, then kick back and enjoy this nice video we found on YouTube....it's a lovely piece of music with photos collected from around the web.

(If you can't view videos on blogs, go here to see it on YT)

God bless their souls!

And for those who are ready to be amused, here's a silly story for you.
Once upon a time there was a plan. That Plan was to get lots of friends together to post on their blogs and share their creativity. That was a beautiful Plan.

Then along came reality, named Technology. And Technology kicked the tail of the Plan. This little blog post was not acceptable to Technology, so it had to change.

I had put together all the blog posts for the hop, and was so proud of myself. I was done early. Great idea, right? Just had to change a few links, that's all! Well, late Friday night, I was editing the S&S main post, putting links into it - and it disappeared. The whole thing. The complete whole thing. Gone! Before my eyes!  I had to redraft it in my sleepy state, and though it's fine, it was much shorter. (Good for you hoppers, huh!)

Then I came along here to the Homefront Blog this morning, and realised I had reposted the same card with the same sketch. Instead of this sweet little friend card that I had made for *that* blog, in order to keep it really short. Ha! Joke was on me! So now this card is here instead. :)

In addition to which, the grace extended to me in the midst of piles of emails sent and re-sent while organizing bloggers has been a HUGE blessing. So the "friend" card is wayyy appropriate for the last stop on the hop! You are all friends to me, and I'm blessed because of you!

And it's as it's meant to be - because the blog candy we're giving away is based on the following question:
What friendship have you made or has been made better because of cardmaking?
And for those who commented on the other card before I swapped out to post this one, you get entered for the drawing anyway. Because that's what friends are for! Rain or shine, technology or plan, you've all been there for me, and I'm grateful!

Feeling left out?
If you've been inspired or if you're just feeling bummed that you didn't sign up ahead for our hop, go and post on your blog too. Leave us a link so we can come visit you too! (If you use this sketch, please link here too so we can see what you created!

I am inspired to add more layers and textures to my cards and to be unafraid of more creative color palettes.
Thanks for supporting this cause.

What friendship have you made or has been made better because of cardmaking?

I moved 2000 miles away from my friends and family...and cardmaking/scrapbooking led me to make new friends that have made the move lots easier.

Thanks so much for the blog hop...I had a great time and have added some fantastic blogs to my reader for inspiration!

I've made a whole pile of friends over the years through card making both online and at my regular monthly stamping group. It's truly a small world when you start sharing your creativity.

Cardmaking has strengthened my friendship with my dear friend Chris. We just finished re-doing her craft studio. We packed, sorted, organized, and stacked. Now that we are all done, we are taking a trip down to Fla to hang out with Chris's Mom and her stamping buddies. Should be great fun. I would also add that I have a pretty cool cyber friendship with Sandy the OWH Queen. Thanks for all you do Sandy. Whew, I made it all the way thru all the blogs on the hop. So many great cards. Congrats to all the ladies involvled. Super job.

I was introduced to stamping at the church I worked at in 2000. It reawakened the artisan in me and the journey has been wonderful for many reasons.

Most of all the friendships with other women that have been forged; not only in person but in this huge world we live in online!
I have been involved in group submission to magazines, have been published myself, been to Art Retreats that had stamping as the common bound.

The journey is awesome and I am not ready to give it up anytime soon.

Sandy and Crew
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!

peace, joy and love,

until we blog again

What "Party" is complete without a few bugs? I'm glad you got things worked out. I really enjoyed the hop and all the inspiration from the card makers.

I have made many friendships through my card making, especially in the past 9 months since I started blogging. It has opened so many doors and given me a few opportunities to help other also.

Sandy you are the friend I've received from making cards. Through you I've learned how to be graceful in the middle of crisis, made new friends at lots of blogs, stamp/craft sites and your posts always always make me smile and keep me humble. Exactly what a friend should do. Thanks Gal!

Gee, sandy to be honest I don't think I can put into words what friends have done for me. I can tell you that my bestest online friend (sandy U know it's you!) has been a great inspiration to me, her leadership and passion is contagious.

another bff, sue who's a tad bit older than I (by about 20years) has been the most fun to have and if it were not for stamping I would not know her at all. She made me sit at the first stamp club I ever went to!

I could go on and on and on...

I've been inviting co-workers to do some card making with me after work. It's great to be able to spend time with them outside of work and get to know them better. Yay for cardmaking!

Thanks so much, Sandy, for doing all this hard work on the blog. I should have taken your advice at the beginning and printed out a list to make comments on, but I guess I'll just have to go back tomorrow and look at all the blogs again. :o)

It is right on my bloghop post, that Fabre brought me here. And I can't express enough, how grateful I am that she did. I have met some wonderful people through our crops and it makes me realize how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends and family. God bless all of our heroes and THEIR family and friends, and to you for making a piece of their lives a little easier.

I moved from Arizona to Tennessee when I first started stamping and I had no one here that stamped so I quit SU but finally found TN Stampers and lots of great girls to stamp with.
I made it through it took me 16 hours with a few breaks in between but I did it 94 blogs and lots of ideas. Thank you everyone this was fun!
God Bless,

A lot of my close friends I met through stamping and card making. I stared back in the early 90's, then took up scrapbooking when my kids were small, and am now back to card making to use up my enormous stash. I hit every blog single blog and left comments on almost all of them. Well done bloggers!

I've renewed friendships with friends I only saw occasionally. Now they come over one day each week and we stamps and have fun. Thanks so much for this blog hop, I've been hopping for 12 hours now and I made it to the end and left comments on almost every stop along the way, whew! Loved it!

Cute card! What a great blog hop! I had lots of fun! I had a few hiccups along the way but had a blast! My daughters and I have grown much closer since making cards together and my son loves receiving them in Afghanistan!!

WOW! Trying to say what friendships I've made or have made better because of my card making is a challenge. When I started making cards to send to my daughter's unit several years ago, I hit numerous slumps that almost made me want to stop. Thanks to my searches online & actually asking for help from other cardmakers, not only did I grow stronger in cardmaking, I also realized how many people are out there that are stilling willing to help out. I have met so many people through blogging & online groups that have enhanced my stamping as well as the encouragement to continue. I have made it my mission to make cards for the soldiers & the veterans living in my local nursing home, all thanks to these cyber friends. There are also so many wonderful people out there that I have yet to meet that I know I will continue to be encouraged by. I am so thankful for this wonderful ministry of cards, & will continue on this trek as long as my body allows!

What friendship have you made or has been made better because of cardmaking?
I have made new friends. I moved 3000 miles away from friends and family and now live on a farm in a very rural area. The OWH and S&S have given me a place to feel a "part of" in a community of like minded/hearted people. I have met cardmakers who have extended grace and encouragement in my odd non-style of cardmaking which has given me the freedom to keep discovering my inner artist. OWH means a lot to this old VET. I'm glad I can do my small part to being a smile to another.

Phew! What a great blog hop...long but very inspirational!! I have made many great friends through cardmaking and through the blog world! Many I consider closer than my own family members! You share a bond that most folks don't understand!!

As a military spouse and someone new to OWH, I thank you for hosting this blog hop and creating this awesome organization!

Sandy,

What a great bloghop! I am so thankful for lots of inspiration and many touching stories. I want to say 'thank you' to you including Kris and Dixie for all what you do for the OWH and fellow card makers.

I made very good friends at work by card making together especially for cards for our heroes. They became a very strong support group for me and the OWH so that I can get a huge help. This is my theraphy and the OWh S&S Blog is a powerful source of inspiration. Thanks very much!

Fabre said...

Made it through - wow! Great blog hop, and great job Sandy!

I have made some great friends through cardmaking, especially some local friends that get together once a month to do OWH cards (and we all work to make additional cards to fill the box throughout the month). One of these friends I had known before, but a few others I have met through OWH when I was shipping, and it has been just wonderful getting to know them. I also love that many of the people that used to ship to me are still in touch via facebook, e-mail, etc. - it is great fun to keep up with everyone!

Off to make some more owh cards - I'm feeling inspired!

Cardmaking has allowed me to be able to reach more people since I make cards for OWH. Knowing that you are making the day for sender of the card but also the receiver of the card. I am so thankful for such a great organization.

Hey Sandy - you've done a stupendous job organizing and hosting the bloghop. It's my very first and I've been blessed - with ideas and new blogs to follow. As for your question I introduced my sister, Meg, to card making for OWH. We usually scrap together but she really fell in love with card making. Thanks for being the impetus behind that and bringing us closer. OWH and YOU rock!

I've made new friends at the scrapbook store where I go to make cards on most Wednesdays.. being newly retired that's nice:) I also feel I have an entire family of friends throughout the country since we all share a common bond here.. and a common bond is the hallmark of any friendship.

Love the little mouse card and thank you thank you for all your hard work in organizing this and sorry for all the hair you pulled out in the process ;)..

What friendship have you made or has been made better because of cardmaking?

My answer is myself! Sounds funny but it is true. When I am creating..in quiet time..I have great conversations with myself. I have learned alot about me :)

I have made many friendships because of cardmaking, but the one most special to me is the closeness it has brought to me and mother in law. She had wanted to make cards and scrapbook for year, but never had anyone to show her how to get started. Then when my husband and I married and I started this journey... I asked her to come along for the ride. We've really became close because of it. :)

Darn that technology...
What a sweet little card. When my dearest friend and I get together to create stuff, we get to spend hours of quality time together that we would not have otherwise. Usually my college age daughter joins us. I think this incredibly special and I appreciate it more than you can imagine.

This is such an adorable image!

I got a SU demo and friend through blogging. I stumbled on her blog one day and loved the card she had posted. I E-mailed her for more details. She was so nice. A few months later I needed a new SU demo and ordered from her. She's been my demo and friend for over a year now.

Thanks for this amazing hop.

I love the card and I love OWH!

I can't pick one friend as my life has been made richer and me a better person for knowing all the Ladies at the Stamped group on Yahoo and before that IdahoScrappers... Each and every one has challenged me creatively and personally to go beyond what I thought possible. Each has supported me physically or emotionally or through prayer when I thought I could not possibly continue. Each brings a ray of sunshine into my life each and every day so in my world there is never a day without sunshine... But most of all they brought me to you - OWH.

Sandy- First, THANK YOU so much for all that you do. You are an inspiration to us all and as a military wife I want you to know how much we appreciate what you have done for us.

Cardmaking has brought me so many friendships, especially over the last 14 months. There are several girls from our spouses group who are also crafty and on nights when their husbands were home they would come to me with their supplies and we would craft and eat chocolate and I was able to have adult conversation and recharge my batteries for the days that lay ahead. Those women were instrumental to my survival.

And of course- YOU!! I am so glad to have met you and even when we move from WA I know that we will keep in touch.

THANK YOU!!!

Moving around a lot in the military has just been a fact of life and making friends(and leaving friends) has always been hard for me. Card-making has helped me to meet new people every time we PCS'd and some of my best friends along the way shared this great hobby with me!

Thanks so much for all you do and putting this hop together. It was so much fun and I'm SO glad I was able to take part in it!

OMG I can't believe you lost the whole thing and had to start again! I can't imagine doing it once! I'm finally done, did all 94 (?!), took me 2 days, but I'm glad I did. I may never get to meet them IRL, but they're just at the other side of my computer!

Thanks for doing this hop. Thanks for all that you do for our Heroes! Once of the gals said that your soul glowed, I'm betting she's right! OWH rocks!!!

Yes I do think cardmaking has changed my life. (My cat agrees since I spend way too much time papercrafting and way too little time petting her)How much it means to me to have an opportunity to use what talents I have to make things even a little better for others. Our cards build bridges between people, including we cardmakers! Thanks so much Sandy!

"all my friends live in my computer":o) So I guess you could say..I'd be equally as lost without Lolita...my laptop! Thank you for affording me the opportunity to make new friends!!!

Another church member showed me a card she had made and brought to the service to give to her friend. After we discovered we had cardmaking in common, we became friends, too. She and I made more than 550 invitations to the Friends of the Carpenter fundraising auction held last October. Now we are creating a new card for this year's auction. We both made cards for OperationWriteHome and went to our first cardmaing workshop this month at Ft. Lewis. Esther E.

I linked because I am joining you lovely folks...what an amazing organization! I made 3 cards that I was challenged to make...2 of them are going to our heroes! and I plan on making many, many more. I am recently disabled and feel like I serve no purpose...now I know I do!

so I did not have your sketch done, but I did do 3 challenges by your members and you will see them on my blog, as well as a OWH blinkie!

I am surrounded by vets, both alive and passed on, and I am proud of all of them. We totally support our troops and now I can put my money (or lack of, LOL) where my mouth is (or hands and stamps). thank you for this, you do so much, and you do not know how this has touched my life, and given me a purpose!

Thank you very much.
